Pfizer Associate Scientist, Gene Therapy Translational Biology (non PhD) in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The candidate will be an essential member of the Gene Therapy Translational Sciences group, a part of Pfizer's Rare Disease Research Unit (RDRU) located in Cambridge, MA. The candidate will perform cell culture and cell based experiments for evaluation, characterization and validation of the AAV gene therapy products. A variety of cell culture methods will be employed using human primary cells and iPS cells to develop in vitro disease and efficacy models. He/she will use biology knowledge to execute experiments including characterization of patient-derived iPS lines to address certain aspects of translational biology of gene therapy. The applicant will function as a member of multidisciplinary project teams and will work under the close supervision of a more senior scientist.
The candidate will perform cell culture and cell based experiments using 3D human hepatic cell culture and healthy and patient-derived iPS cell culture. He/she will assist in iPS reprograming and differentiation.
This associate scientist will maintain healthy and diseased cell lines as well as conduct cell banking to support RDRU multidisciplinary project teams.
The applicant will be trained by a more senior scientist to characterize patient-derived iPS lines using variety methods: CRISPR Electroporation transfection, ddPCR, rtPCR, ELISA, MSD assay, Flow Cytometry, Western blot analysis, High Content Images and confocal microscope. This position requires conducting experiments, analyzing data using excel and GraphPad Prism, troubleshoot experiments, and present results at lab meetings.
BS in the life sciences with 0-2 years of academic or industry experience in cell culture required.
Scientific background in biology, molecular biology, or cell biology, or other relevant discipline required.
Strong written/verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with teams required.
Experience with 3D culture and iPS differentiation is a plus.
