Minimum of two years’ experience in the use of AV equipment at the corporate, educational, live event, or broadcast level.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • BA or Technical School certification, with courses on instructional media preferred.

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting installed AV systems.

  • Experience Setting up and operating portable AV equipment.

  • Wireless and wired microphone technology, microphone mixing technology, digital signal processing including feedback eliminators, equalization and audio distribution.

  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues.

  • Customer service experience in a fast-paced, academic environment where quality delivery and relationship building are valued.

  • Effective interpersonal skills including written and verbal communications.

  • Experience working in an academic environment preferred.

  • Support faculty, administrators, and other constituencies with audio visual needs in classrooms, conference rooms and event spaces.

  • Operate installed and portable professional AV equipment including:

  • Projectors, LED Displays and LED Walls

  • Matrix and Routing Switchers

  • Crestron Operating and Control Systems

  • Image Capture and Annotation Presentation Technology

  • Live Streaming Hardware and Software

  • Portable Media Equipment

  • Audio and Video Recording Systems

  • Wireless and Wired Microphones

  • Digital Audio Mixers

  • Video Cameras including Document and Robotic Cameras

  • Troubleshoot networked AV systems and escalate as needed.

  • Respond to support requests via email, phone calls and tickets in a timely manner.

  • Operate equipment in a multi-functional control room.

  • Train staff members, students, administrators, faculty, and their assistants in the use of AV and video equipment.

  • Monitor AV systems via monitoring and management software.

  • Monitor Asset management system for tracking of loaned, damaged, or unavailable equipment.

  • Early morning, late evening, and weekend coverage is required on occasion.

  • Other duties as needed.

The individual in this role may be in work situations where the ability to carry up to 20 pounds unassisted and to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance is needed. Standing and sitting for considerable lengths of time might also be required.

Working Conditions:

The individual in this role will travel frequently between 114 Western Avenue and 150 Western Avenue (The Science and Engineering Complex) to provide service and support to AV equipped rooms spanning over eight floors. Occasional support will also be required for events taking place on the Cambridge campus. Early morning, late evening, and weekend coverage required on occasion.

Job Summary:

This position will work as a member of the SEAS AV Services department within the SEAS Service Center to provide audio visual support to classrooms, meeting spaces and event spaces throughout our Allston and Cambridge campuses. Day-to-day tasks will include troubleshooting and operating AV equipment, and providing onsite support and training for technical issues, questions, and recommendations.
