  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 5+ years of experience in administrative support role(s) and/or related experience is required. Education beyond high school may count toward experience.

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) experience is a must.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent relationship management skills, proven project management skills, creative problem-solving skills, strong analytical ability, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to respond independently and with flexibility under tight deadlines is critical. Experience in creating and delivering presentations that are visually engaging with clear and concise messaging for all audiences.

  • Experience with survey design and engagement metrics.

  • Excellent consultative, project management, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities on deadlines, and anticipate and resolve problems proactively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships; comfort in engaging faculty and colleagues at all levels with poise and self-confidence; team-oriented, collaborative working style.

  • Experience providing complex administrative support in a high-profile professional environment.

  • Experience with reporting databases and software programs, demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software. Intellectual curiosity and an appreciation for lifelong learning.

Additional Information:This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday – Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

The HBS Alumni Relations (AR) team plans and executes programs and events for an alumni community of more than 90,000. HBS is leading peer business schools with its data-driven approach to alumni engagement which leverages metrics to quantify learning outcomes and inform strategy and program planning. We are seeking a Business Specialist with data analysis experience to design surveys, analyze business and engagement data, and deliver high-quality reports and insights to help support decision-making across the department.

The Business Specialist role offers an opportunity to contribute to HBS’s lifelong learning objectives for alumni — a major priority for the School. This position is an essential part of the Alumni Programs team, which values innovation and embraces a growth mindset rooted in team members’ passion for lifelong learning. The Business Specialist will be expected to:

  • Design and deploy alumni program surveys, serve as internal consultant for AR colleagues on survey design. Analyze survey results and communicate research and survey findings to a wide range of internal audiences from execution staff to mid-level managers to senior leadership, tailoring insights appropriately to support tactical and strategic decision making

  • Manage the Alumni Relations Engagement Dashboard prototype and subsequently inform creation of new automated report. Serve as data reporting resource to various teams across Alumni Relations

  • Create and deliver presentations that are visually engaging with clear and concise messaging for all audiences Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to inform, support, and assess program development

  • In conjunction with ER IT, develop standard reports, templates, dashboards and worksheets that clearly illustrate data for leadership decision-making

  • Assist in planning, marketing, and execution of programs and events including creating invitation lists, building events in Cvent, and managing registration

  • Participate in a rotation of administrative duties with other Alumni Relations staff

  • Improving alumni outcomes and helping manage the alumni data in 12twenty

  • This role is responsible for other duties as assigned
