Please note: Candidates with less experience and strong skills will be considered for a grade 55 Associate Case Researcher.Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree and 18 months of case writing experience preferred.

  • Ability to complete cases efficiently and to high quality standards.

  • Strong research and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines and evolving scope; able to give and receive feedback; proven ability to analyze financial data; knowledge of HBS structure, systems, and processes helpful; and, ability to work independently while seeking guidance as needed from CRG peers and faculty clients.

  • Knowledge of a foreign language/industry expertise/geographic region of interest to HBS faculty or HBS curriculum preferred.

  • Cover letter, writing samples, transcripts and skills assessment are required as part of the screening process.

Additional Information:This position is approved for a 1-year term (with possibility of renewal/extension) which begins on the person's first day of employment.

This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus 3 days per week. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.

  • With faculty guidance, writes case studies based on field and/or library research, supports the development of course materials, including teaching notes and teaching plans and multimedia materials; manage timelines, drafts and deliverables, creates basic case components (e.g., tables, charts, graphs)

  • Learn the case template and understands the case submission process

  • Help the faculty with project management tasks related to more complex course materials development efforts

  • Once experienced, Case Researchers are expected to participate in CRG-level activities such as recruiting, training, mentoring and on-boarding.

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

  • This role is responsible for other duties as assigned

The CRG helps HBS faculty members develop course materials, in particular case studies, that train future leaders in the HBS MBA and Executive Education programs. To do so, we interview key decision makers at case sites about their most pressing challenges and organizational dilemmas. Travel may be involved. In addition to interviews, we gather library research, and then we write. HBS cases are sold worldwide and impact tens of thousands of students. We are a tightly knit, highly collaborative, feedback-driven team.
