The Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) seeks applicants for the position of Chief of Anesthesia at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate is a nationally respected clinician with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills as well as prior leadership experience who will lead the division to further success.
Working closely with the Chair of the HMFP Department, the Vice Chair for Network Anesthesia and the President of Mount Auburn Hospital, s/he will develop a vision and strategic plan to provide comprehensive, high quality, highly efficient anesthesia services that will support the mission of the hospital to improve the health of the residents of Cambridge, MA and its surrounding communities.
Mount Auburn Hospital
Is a 220-bed, adult medical-surgical hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts that is affiliated with Harvard Medical School and part of the BILH. MAH is a training site for Anesthesia residents and fellows from the BIDMC.
The Chair directs Mount Auburn’s anesthesia services in a primary market serving 12 communities including numerous schools and colleges. MAH provides comprehensive inpatient services in all medical specialties and includes a comprehensive cardiac care center which performs a full range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures. The facility includes 10 main operating rooms, a 3- room outpatient surgical center as well as several “out of OR” anesthetizing locations.
The Hospital staff performs approximately 10,000 inpatient and outpatient procedures annually and provides comprehensive anesthesia services for inpatient and outpatient surgery, obstetrics with 2800 deliveries annually, interventional radiology, and endoscopy within a collaborative teaching hospital environment. The Hospital is a founding member of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), a $5.5B, 13 hospital health care system serving eastern Massachusetts that recently received approval from all state and federal regulatory agencies and began joint operations on March 1, 2019.
