Experience implementing AWS or Azure infrastructure and topologies, or other cloud-based solutions for enterprise Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep)
Strong experience with at least one cloud server-side programming language (e.g. Python, Node.js)
In-depth knowledge of core infrastructure components for at least one Cloud Provider: networking, identity management, security tooling, metric & alarming platforms, VPNs, compute infrastructure (servers, databases, firewalls, load balancers)
Experience with source code version control systems Automation skills with hands-on experience with GitHub actions and proficiency in Bash, Python, PowerShell or similar scripting languages
Deep understanding of and experience with IT security and data protection concepts
Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team
Effective written and oral communication skills
Additional Information:This role is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA-based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite at least three days per week and for departments to provide onsite coverage Monday - Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

Harvard Business School (HBS) is expanding its Cloud Infrastructure. We need experienced Cloud Engineers to help build new infrastructure solutions that support our mission to educate leaders who make a difference in the world.
The Cloud Systems Engineer participates within the Cloud Engineering team, which is a part of the Cloud and Systems Engineering (CSE) department to reflect the school's increased need for Cloud-based infrastructure. CSE also supports an on-premises data center and two cloud environments (AWS and Azure). This position will assist in implementing and managing the cloud infrastructure at HBS. The cloud infrastructure is a critical resource for the school; the Cloud Systems Engineer ensures that the design, performance, availability, and security of the cloud infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards.
An ideal candidate will have a strong infrastructure-as-code approach to managing technology infrastructure. In addition to strong technical skills, this position requires excellent interpersonal skills to help create a world-class environment for the HBS community.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop and maintain cloud-based infrastructure and platform solutions
Develop and/or execute technical and business processes that ensure the school’s cloud estate remains secure, available, scalable and cost-effective
Consult with and guide IT infrastructure teams, application development teams and academic researchers in support of their infrastructure needs
Monitor call-tracking system: Investigate and resolve trouble tickets
Continuously learn, adopt and advocate for new tools and techniques to enhance team capabilities in the areas of security, performance, automation, and scalability
Enhance and maintain knowledge sharing across the CSE engineering team, ensuring effective use of the knowledge management platform
Ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage delays effectively, and collaborate in a team environment
Complete other responsibilities as assigned
