The Community Engagement team within Microsoft Research & Incubations is searching for a Community Engagement PM to own, drive and execute our global PhD Fellowship program working alongside internal and external stakeholders and partners around the world. This role will also be responsible for driving strategy and execution of our internal community engagement program between our PhD fellowship recipients and those at Microsoft Research & Incubations.
Additionally, the Community Engagement PM will drive community strategy and execution for first party internal and external research programs, partnerships and events and third-party conferences that align to the organization’s impact themes.
This role requires a self-motivated individual, comfortable operating in a fast-paced and technical environment. The role requires strong stakeholder management capabilities while collaborating with teams and senior leaders across Microsoft, the Research & Incubations organization and the external research and academic community, managing the interaction of research teams and communities while driving successful delivery of projects and initiatives while staying focused on Microsoft’s strategic goals.
We’re looking for a passionate individual who will:
Own and drive strategy, planning, budget planning and execution of Microsoft Research & Incubations global PhD Fellowship program in addition to the program’s internal community engagement strategy to drive transparency between our recipients and those at Microsoft.
Own and drive strategy, planning, budget planning and execution of Microsoft Research & Incubations first party internal and external research programs, partnerships and events that align to the organization’s impact themes, the North America community engagement strategy as well as top-tier academic conferences, while working with internal and external collaborators and stakeholders.
Apply excellent project and program management techniques to drive clarity and accountability for large and complex collaboration efforts across multiple teams while making strategic recommendations to optimize successful outcomes.
Leverage business analytics and relevant metrics to drive business impact and iterate strategies as necessary. Acts as the SME for competitive program and event initiatives. Compile learning and share leading practices across teams to help achieve the most effective results.
Manage and own relationships with stakeholders to construct internal and external event, program, and partnership objectives and tactics to support business priorities and impact themes to help design both in-person and virtual programs and events to best meet these objectives.

Bachelor’s degree (preferably Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs, Business)
6 -7 years’ experience of relevant and exceptional program, event, and stakeholder management.
Demonstrated technical acumen capabilities to understand and discuss technical concepts, and work collaboratively with a diverse group of researchers, scientists, and engineers to evaluate opportunistic new ideas among internal and external partners.
Organizational and creativity skills used to create and maintain comprehensive project and program plans inclusive of marketing and communications plans, KPIs, compliance review, budget management, as well as tracking and mitigating risks.
Excellent verbal and written communication/presenting skills through all levels of the organization.
Experience and knowledge in developing and leveraging digital marketing and social media campaigns.
Experience in structuring and managing virtual events, keeping attendee attention, and digital event platforms.
