City of Cambridge Director of Constituent Services in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Director of Constituent Services in the Office of the Mayor is a key member of Mayor\'s team. The successful candidate will be committed to achieving the Mayor\'s goals of increasing accessibility, engagement, and delivery of high-level constituent services for the Office. Reporting to the Mayor\'s Chief of Staff, this position will be the primary point of contact for constituents in need of direct case management services, particularly vulnerable members of the community and at-risk individuals and families. Case management services may be brief and limited, such as helping an individual find a shelter bed for the night, or more complex depending on the needs of the individual or family. Services may include negotiating on behalf of a family facing eviction, seeking resources for victims of domestic violence, working with legal services on a constituent\'s behalf or making referrals for financial literacy services, job search assistance or mental health treatment as appropriate. In addition, the Director of Constituent Services will collaborate with the Mayor?s team on special projects/events. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following: Conduct intake of constituents/clients to assess their needs. Develop and implement short-term service plans for clients. Manage a caseload of clients using a trauma-informed care perspective. Develop, identify, and provide information and appropriate referrals for services and opportunities to clients as needed. Create and maintain current written case records for all assigned participants, updated on a weekly basis. Provide statistics, reports and other information as required, including monthly assessment reports of current trends and themes. Report regularly to the Mayor\'s Chief of Staff and participate in meetings with other staff members and community partners. Attend special events and other meetings as needed. Work as part of a team with the Mayor, the Chief of Staff and colleagues to ensure the effective operation of the Mayor\'s office. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor\'s degree in related field required or equivalent combination of education, training and experience Minimum of three years of case management experience, preferably in the areas of housing/homelessness, domestic violence, and/or income insecurity Ability to relate to persons in crisis, staff, other service providers, landlords and the general public in a positive manner Knowledge of mainstream and specialized resources to meet constituent needs Able to maintain confidentiality Proactive approach to problem solving with strong, objective decision-making skills Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize competing responsibilities and multitask Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong attention to detail, particularly in preparation of written reports and correspondence Highly adaptable and sensitive to working with diverse (race, ethnicity, age, generation, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious/spiritual beliefs, disability and more) populations (experience with and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of minority populations required) Ability to work collaboratively and seamlessly with a wide variety of City Department personnel and community partners Cambridge is a diverse City representing a variety of languages and cultures, familiarity and/or fluency in multiple languages is a plus Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with MS Office Suite Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
