Microsoft Corporation Energy and Professional Services Industry Marketing Manager in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Do you want to play a significant role in the transformational approach to Industry at Microsoft? Are you curious and able to uncover customer insights in the energy and professional services industry? We are seeking a blend of knowledge for how digital transformation can drive innovation within the energy industry, or how energy companies can become more sustainable or how digital transformation can grow revenue and elevate client experiences with our professional service accounts.

The Digital Industry Marketing Team within the US Central Marketing Organization (US CMO) has an exciting role focused on acquiring new business decision maker contacts and accelerating new business within our energy and professional services customers. You’ll need to build a plan to activate the market and create the content, programs, and assets across the customer lifecycle in order to activate a wide variety of marketing channels including digital, social, influencer and associations.


Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Leveraging Microsoft’s narrative for energy and professional services to create a marketing execution strategy including shared goals & objectives, audience targeting, content, assets & programs needed to deliver against the marketing goals for the industry (in partnership with manufacturing and automotive field marketing).

  • Lending industry expertise with passion for customer, understanding energy and professional services trends, leading with digital storytelling skills to increase Microsoft’s US market relevance in energy and professional services and engaging the buying committee across the buying lifecycle and across our customer segments.

  • Creating a content map aligned to business outcomes and cross-solution plays and work collaboratively across the integrated marketing engines to acquire new business contacts and engaged customers.

  • Provide energy and professional services thought leadership by partnering closely across a v-team (energy field marketing, professional services field marketing, solution marketing, partner marketing, digital and events) to land execution across our paid, earned, and owned channels.

  • Providing marketing leadership by designing a digital engagement journey that increase customer engagement, light up customer stories and drive engaged influencers.

  • Create strategic partnerships with industry third parties/associations to engage.Creating and managing a personal learning plan to stay tightly connected to energy and professional services customers, partners, digital content, and influencers.

  • You’ll need to demonstrate a strong growth mindset, inspiring optimism and focused on the business outcomes that are possible for our manufacturing and automotive customers.

  • Strong operational management:

  • Manage and support annual planning and budget processes. Create alignment and clarity.

  • Ensure relevant marketing executions are properly set up in systems and tools for tracking reporting.

  • 100% budget utilization for your industry - Effective and accurate forecasting and spend of marketing budgets.

  • Lead Microsoft brand stewardship, ensure GDPR compliance and adhere to Microsoft Accessibility Standards and Diversity and Inclusion principles in all marketing executions.


Who we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of proven digital marketing experience, content marketing or marketing communications. Preferably in the energy and/or professional services industry.

  • Connected sales and marketing experience. Strong understanding of sales priorities and motivations and ability to advocate for marketing in conversations with sales organizations to ensure optimal customer experiences and success.

  • Must be a data-driven marketer. Must be comfortable reading and analyzing data, using it to inform marketing plans and prioritize investments and leading data discussions with key business stakeholders.

  • Must be inspired by digital marketing execution, embrace marketing automation concepts, and be obsessed with delivering a compelling customer experience through relevant, connected customer engagement.

  • Innate curiosity and desire to learn new things as well as share key learnings with others.

  • Ability to influence across a matrixed organization and inspire others towards shared goals.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent work experience required. MBA degree preferred but not required.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $106,900 and $160,100.

At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
