City of Cambridge Evaluation Assistant in Cambridge, Massachusetts

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The City of Cambridge Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) provides services directly to the community including, preschool, afterschool, and family support programs; recreation programs for children and adults; career readiness and employment services; adult education classes; housing services; and fuel assistance. In addition, the department brings non-profit and community-based organizations together for planning, coordination, and technical assistance, funding many of these agencies through service contracts. We are seeking an Evaluation Assistant to provide support with data and evaluation projects for the Department's child, youth, and family serving programs. Reporting to the Evaluation Manager, this grant-funded position will help build the Department's capacity to use data to inform decision-making and quality improvement efforts.* * The Evaluation Assistant will have excellent organizational, communication, and management skills as well as strong technological skills. The Evaluation Assistant will be detail oriented with a basic understanding of databases, data visualization tools, and general office related software (e.g., Microsoft Office). The Evaluation Assistant will be reliable, trustworthy, and have a proven ability to work independently. Job Specific Responsibilities * Perform data entry and quality control * Participate in developing database documents such as annotated questionnaires and codebooks * Keep systems configurations up to date * Perform quantitative data tasks, including cleaning data files, checking for completeness, creating new variables, matching data sets, running descriptive statistics * Contribute to joint understanding and meaning-makingwith project team, conducting literature reviews, writing up findings, and visualizing data * Contribute to the creation of a variety of deliverables, including written reports, presentations, and data dashboards Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * BA or equivalent work experience in education, psychology, social services, or a related field * Experience with data collection and management * Proficiency in MS Excel, including basic functions and formulas * Experience with data visualization tools a plus * Ability to use tact, discretion, and sound judgment when dealing with confidential information * Stellar attention to details * The City of Cambridge's workforce, like the community it serves, is diverse.Applicants must have the ability to work and interact effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies. Must be able to pay close attention to detail and concentrate on work. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing which permits employee to communicate effectively. Sufficient vision which permits employee to read printed and electronic materials. Sufficient manual dexterity which permits employee to enter data.
