Job Summary

The FBM Insights Strategy Lead will contribute to the advancement of strategies that supports our collective efforts in Field Based Medical (FBM) to gain clinical insights. They will help drive the establishment and implementation of clear processes and systems to collect, collate, and synthesize insights from different stakeholders, and advance the ability of the Therapeutic Area (TA) teams to leverage these insights to advance patient care. This individual will help build and manage the analytics function for SGZ Global Field Based Medical Excellence, and in partnership with the Sanofi Genzyme Global FBM Function, will accelerate the creation of, and standardization of, Field Based Medical reporting, training and role performance optimization.

This individual will work with the SGZ FBM teams to identify and implement more systematic ways to capture data as well as evaluating and sharing of findings that can impact the development and/or refinement of TA Medical Plans. They will lead the consolidation of insights, global Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics reporting while working collaboratively with US, Europe, China/EM and JPAC regions and cross-functional stakeholders to create functional dashboards and reports that assess FBM performance, information and effectiveness.

The Director of FBM Insights & Strategy will support FBM market research & scientific engagement activities that allows for qualitative as well as quantitative clarity as to the value of FBM in the medical community. They will work with the SGZ FBM Excellence team to bring innovation, effectiveness & improvement in processes and strategies across Specialty Care Medical focusing on Field Based Medical.

The role reports directly to the Sanofi Genzyme Head of Field Based Medical Excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Build and manage the strategic insights and analytics function for Global FBM Excellence at Genzyme, supporting Field Based Medical teams, building processes and managing the analytics objectives; contributing overall to the following:

  • Strategic thinking, Insight analysis, metric tracking and reporting

  • Establishing both KPIs and metrics with FBM stakeholders ensuring that processes are in place and being followed to create a unified approach, capture the required data and providing reporting capabilities at a project and portfolio level

  • Designing, creating and maintaining strategic analysis reports & dashboards that are clear, concise and representative of the identified needs, reporting and visualization tools to harmonize reporting for FBM and advance our understanding of FBM strategic impact and opportunities

  • Work collaboratively with business partners to facilitate more efficient and effective ways to collect, maintain, and report information both within specialty care and with the CMO function

  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness of metrics, KPI’s and other analytics and generating communications and reports that may be relevant for inclusion in responses to Corporate Integrity Agreements, audits, and other significant reports to the Head, Global FBM Excellence, MO&E, Country & Regional FBM Leads, Head of Genzyme MO&E, Head of Medical, as well as when requested by the Chief Medical function (including but not limited to the Central Field Based Medical Effectiveness), and/or Executive Committee

  • Supports x-GBU and cross-functional projects as appropriate

  • Serves as resource to specialty care TAs to ensure consistent collection, analysis and presentation of data for KPIs and metrics as they relate to FBM

  • Develops organizational proficiency within existing databases including, but not limited to Veeva (1-CRM), MedVox, Pharma Spectra (formerly Medmeme), etc.

  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • This role necessitates a candidate who collaborates with stakeholders and establishes, as well as communicates opportunities to address unmet needs and opportunities through analytics, patterns and trends to align various sources of insights for a full understanding of healthcare ecosystem that can impact care decisions for patients in line with TA Medical strategies.

  • Demonstrated experience with developing strategy and providing advanced data insights as well as expert knowledge of analysis tools

  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships and ability to effectively operate in a matrix environment

  • Exceptional verbal and visual communication skills to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to a wide variety of audiences including senior leadership

  • Excellent attention to detail, follow up skills, flexible and has the ability to deal with ambiguity

  • At least 7 years’ experience in Medical Affairs or related biopharmaceutical industry with demonstrated ability to lead and perform analyses on key organizational performance, financial and operational data / metrics to drive meaningful improvement to organizational performance.

  • Direct FBM experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s education at minimum.

  • Advanced degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. PhD, PharmD) and/or Business qualifications (e.g. MBA, Project Management certification) preferred.

  • Fundamental understanding of Medical Affairs in general and Field Based Medical roles and responsibilities in particular a must

  • Previous demonstration of abilities to create "dashboards" to summarize analytic trends requiring synthesis of several disparate sources of data into a common view strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated curiosity to tackle hard business problems using data and analytics to develop meaningful, practical solutions while maintaining flexibility in approach

  • Previous experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (ex. Veeva) preferred

  • Proficiency in accessing data sources of differing complexities required. Knowledge of analytic techniques including practical statistics and knowledge of database querying and query design a plus.

  • Advanced proficiency in data manipulation and presentation (including Excel®, Qlikview or other Visualization tools) and strong presentation skills (including PowerPoint®) required
