Working Conditions:Work is performed in an office setting.

This position will be based at our campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Our office is currently working on a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of two days per week working in the

office and the remainder of time working from home. However, it is possible that this arrangement may change.

Complying with the office’s work location requirements is a condition of continued employment.

Position Description:The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) Finance and Operations Administrator is the subject matter expert and the lead on financial operations and projects. Reporting to the Captain, Administration at Harvard University Police Department and dotted line reporting to Central Finance, the Finance and Operations Administrator is responsible for the comprehensive financial administration, and budgeting operations. Providing analysis and financial reporting to HUPD management and serving as liaison to Central Finance and Administration, they will advise on financial planning.

Main duties and responsibilities for the Finance and Operations Administrator role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop, forecast, and administer complex annual budget(s), including forecasting and multi-year planning

  • Collaborate with Central Administration on all HUPD reporting salary flux, budget vs actuals

  • Perform highly complex financial analysis and modeling. i.e., building overtime projections based on planned and unplanned events.

  • Perform financial operations that may include duties related to payroll, accounting, accounts payable/receivable, procurement, etc.

  • May function as a subject matter expert and/or project lead on financial operations for the department

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues and discrepancies

  • Represent HUPD on financial and administrative committees (policy, budget, financial systems, CFA leads)

  • Administer Irving Fund and provide related annual reports to AA&D

  • Responsible for managing the fixed assets inventory & related reporting

  • Communicate key financial challenges to management, research and recommend solutions

  • Liaison to the HR team (annual salary increase process (ASIP), position tracking, workforce planning, leaves administration, etc.)

  • Ensure financial compliance with university policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations

  • Other duties as assigned
