FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR, Mathematics, to manage sponsored research administration and assist in overseeing accounting and financial operations. Will handle proposal development and submissions, budgets, renewals, revisions, transfers, extensions, and supplements of government, industrial foundation, and other organizational proposals along with internal non-departmental funding in accordance with MIT/sponsor policies; advise principal investigators (PIs) on regulations/procedures; develop and deliver training; identify funding opportunities; oversee senior financial assistant with monitoring responsible conduct of research (RCR) training and conflict of interest reporting; manage effort distribution and assist with certifications on sponsored accounts; ensure grant expenses are compliant with MIT/sponsor policies; prepare and review spending plans/budgets; prepare financial reports and analyses; ensure timely grant closeouts; deliver notifications about funding shortfalls and contingency plans; and serve as main point of contact with Office of Sponsored Programs. Will also analyze and track cost sharing and encumbrances; coordinate activation and receipt of awards/gifts; ensure personnel charge their sponsored research appropriately; oversee monthly review/reconciliation of sponsored accounts and coordinate with administrative officer on general/fund/department accounts; supervise staff; develop/maintain financial review and control procedures; prepare financial reports and help develop financial strategies; and perform related duties as necessary.
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting or related field; at least three years' finance and research administration experience; strong analytical, organizational, oral and written communication, and customer service skills; and ability to develop strong working relationships with a variety of faculty and staff. Proficiency with Excel and Word; NSF FastLane and Grants.gov experience; and familiarity with SAP, Coeus, BrioQuery, and Roles Database desirable. Experience with federal contracts and/or financial administration in a university setting preferred. Job #16285-P7/13/18
