Global Head of New Product Planning & Therapeutic Area Strategy, Immunology
The Global Head of New Product Planning (NPP) & Therapeutic Area Strategy, Immunology reporting to the Global Franchise Head, Immunology will play a critical role in the future growth of the franchise. The NPP Head will support the Immunology franchise heads in commercial, development, and research in developing and implementing the therapy area strategy, lead an experienced team of NPP professionals, and work across project teams providing commercial leadership and strategic direction on products moving from pre-clinical stages through early development and towards commercialization. The NPP head is expected to work with both internal and external stakeholders to drive evolution and adoption of therapy area and disease area strategies as well as related strategic initiatives. Annually, the NPP head will captain the cross-functional effort to update our TA strategy. The NPP head will also partner with Business Development and M&A teams to provide guidance and assessments of external opportunities.
Key Accountabilities :
Lead the Global Immunology NPP team
Support the Global Franchise Head of Immunology, as well as the respective heads of Research and Development, in developing and implementing the therapy area strategy, as well as disease area strategies, ensuring prioritization of internal and external growth opportunities.
Actively partner with global project teams to provide robust commercial direction on pipeline planning and product development strategy and ensure appropriate early commercial planning and execution.
Develop the commercial strategy for key assets, ensuring alignment with global business unit (GBU) goals and strategy.
Support the program teams directly and/or through the NPP team throughout the governance process providing GBU business leadership within the franchise, R&D and investment committees.
Direct integrated market analysis and competitive intelligence investigations to identify current and future trends within key disease settings and across the therapy area
Understand and communicate requirements for regulatory approval (registration), access to market (pricing & reimbursement), and market differentiation required for the successful commercialization of new products.
Anticipate and ensure smooth transition of all commercial deliverables and insights to the Global Brand Lead (GBL and brand team).
Partner with business development and related M&A teams to ensure the BD roadmap remains in-line with GBU strategy and explore and evaluate potential commercial synergies with franchise portfolio.
Work with R&D, global commercial and regional colleagues to define and evolve disease areas / commercial areas of interest for the Immunology therapy area
Build and develop a best-in-class team, and foster strong coordination across functions, and across therapy areas
Bachelor’s Degree required (MBA, MS or PhD in life science preferred) 10+ years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience; experience in new product planning / early commercialization, Business development or pre-launch commercial activities is required
Experience in Immunology indications is highly preferred.
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, planning, analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
Ability to engage credibly with internal and external stakeholders around scientific and drug development topics; familiar with the process of drug development from discovery research to commercialization
Driven and result-oriented; Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize work with a sense of urgency
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment with many cross-functional partners including marketing brand teams, market research, market access, medical affairs, business development, regulatory, research & development, manufacturing, finance and legal
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and quickly adjust to changing priorities
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize and deliver a clear overview of the strategy, opportunity and risks for Sanofi executives
Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
