    Job Description

MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION ASSISTANT 1 (AUDIOVISUAL/PHOTOGRAPHY ASSISTANT), Art, Culture, and Technology (ACT) Program (part-time, 30 hrs./wk.), to provide a wide range of audiovisual and technical support for ACT classes, programs, meetings, lectures, and special events. Will assist with running the program's Transmedia Lab, sound studio, photo darkroom, Venus Print Lab, The Cube BlackBox theatre and open studio space, and the Bartos Theatre; aid with managing equipment checkout and inventory, including digital video, photo, and audio equipment; and helping users with department-owned facilities and software. Responsibilities include managing documentation for ACT classes; updating inventory for the program’s 1500 assets; providing media support to staff and students; assisting with the management of darkroom and digital printing facilities and setting up and operating media equipment in ACT classroom, studio, and theater spaces; participating in sound checks or other checks needed to ensure the quality execution of events; providing audio and/or video documentation of events; completing multimedia production tasks ranging from format conversions, photo editing, video editing, and other production needs; assisting with cleaning, storing, and maintaining equipment; and performing other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years of experience maintaining/operating video equipment; excellent organizational, collaboration, and written and spoken communication skills; flexible approach to workload and ability to adapt to change; ability to work as part of a team; basic working knowledge of audiovisual terminology, technologies, and concepts; willingness to learn about general technical aspects of media technologies (formal and on-the-job training support provided); experience with photography and video production and editing; and comfort with Macintosh operating environments. PREFERRED: interest in art or related field.
