As a member of the technical staff in the Sensors and Imaging Systems Group, you will play a role in the development of Optics, Photonics, and Sensor hardware. You will work closely with a team of engineers and physicists to develop, prototype, and test cutting-edge instrument designs. You will be heavily involved with demonstrating minimum viable technology and characterizing performance to guide data driven decision making. Additionally, you will be involved with proposal support, sensor integration, modeling, testing, and analysis of complete systems. Development hardware is often tested off site with customer oversight and the candidate will be expected to support this type of test program as needed. You must be willing to work collaboratively, with multidisciplinary teams, and be able to communicate complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
B.S. degree in physics, optics, or related discipline and 1-5 years of experience is required
A strong physics background is highly desired
Experience in imaging system lens design, tolerance analysis, & stray light is required
Laboratory experience with electrical and optical test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, free space and fiber coupled optics is required.
Competent in a programming language such as, but not limited to, Zemax, MATLAB, C++, Python, LABView, Code V, FRED etc. and be capable of writing software routines to run laboratory experiments including data collection, storage, and basic data reduction.
Highly self-motivated and ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment is required
Excellent written and oral communication skills are preferred
