Posting Description
PLANT ENGINEER, CENTRAL UTILITIES PLANT, Facilities-Central Utilities Plant (CUP), under general direction from the Plant Engineering Manager and in coordination with the CUP Maintenance Team, will be responsible for engineering associated with the operations and maintenance of the plant; provide project management support for major maintenance and capital projects; serve as a resource for plant personnel; assist in the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the facility; support EHS to ensure plant compliance; serve as project liaison for campus district energy and distribution projects, accelerated capital renewal, and major repair operations; maintain accurate and updated site engineering drawings and documentation, including standard plant policies and procedures; determine schedule, agenda, and program for annual testing and tabletop exercises, and serve as the contact for plant-specific IT systems.; develop and maintain a master plan for future equipment replacement and capacity increases; and support CUP Maintenance Team on reliability-centered maintenance approaches to plant management.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years of power plant experience; thorough working knowledge and understanding of power plant systems, plant engineering, or mechanical design of CHP facilities; demonstrated skills with plant performance improvement, environmental compliance, and safety and electrical distribution systems; working knowledge of plant engineering processes; robust analytical and time management skills; ability to establish effective working relationships within and between work groups and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to foster a positive work environment and lead a group of engineers and other staff in a team-centered organization; and excellent interpersonal skills in order to represent the department in the overall MIT Community.
