We are seeking an innovative scientist to join the Respiratory Sciences group in the exploratory Disease Area X (DAx) department. You'll use your deep respiratory diseases knowledge to devise novel approaches to address the underlining pathobiologies in IPF and COPD, and ultimately develop transformative therapies for these patients. DAx is a highly dynamic and collaborative drug discovery department that interfaces biology, genetic engineering, gene and cell therapy, genome analysis, and different modalities, with pre-clinical development and translational medicine. Your Responsibilities Will Include: - Playing a key role in the identification and development of novel therapies for IPF and COPD patients by contributing intellectually and experimentally at all stages of a project, from inception to early clinical development. - Proposing and exploring new research ideas and/or new technologies. Conducting early research to identify and validate targets or pathways of relevance in IPF and or COPD. - Proposing and developing complex assays that recapitulate the disease pathophysiology to drive decision-making activities and bring forward development candidates for ground-breaking therapies in respiratory disease - Self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and a passion for working in an interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment. \n\n\n\n Position Title: Principal Scientist, Respiratory Sciences Minimum requirements: What You'll Bring to the Role: - Ph.D. (or equivalent) in cell biology, biological chemistry, or related discipline with 3+ years of experience in industry or academia. - A proven track record in respiratory diseases (IPF, COPD) research with high-impact peer-reviewed publications in the field - Strong proficiencies in cell biology and complex phenotypic assay development, with hands on experience with a wide range of in-vitro cellular assays such as high-content imaging, cell culture, RT-QPCR, western blotting, ELISAs, and reporter assays - Critical problem solver that cultivates generating hypotheses around mechanisms of disease - Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills Desirable Requirements: - Experience in respiratory disease research (COPD, IPF) in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology research setting.
