    Job Description

PROGRAM HEAD OF ACCESS SERVICES AND LIBRARIES LEARNING SPACES, MIT Libraries, to provide visionary leadership to ensure a welcoming, user-centered experience across all library spaces and services. Will manage a team of four access services managers who collaborate within and outside the department to deliver excellent service aligned with MIT Libraries' strategic goals. Responsibilities include overseeing space vision and development, enhancing frontline services, monitoring trends, and facilitating managerial oversight to ensure consistent, high-quality assistance; and prioritize inclusivity, accessibility, and continuous improvement while fostering a culture of belonging within the library community. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: advanced degree in library science or related field; at least five years of managerial experience in access services libraries; proficiency managing complex projects and at least one year of project management experience; excellent collaborative skills for effectively navigating diverse relationships and competing needs; strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities; and ability to develop metrics, analyze data, and evaluate service outcomes. Must be able to adapt and respond effectively to changing priorities and diverse perspectives and ensure the delivery of quality customer service in the dynamic, future-oriented environment of a world-class research institution. PREFERRED: experience in academic or research libraries, proficiency with automated library systems and project management applications, and the ability to work in a rapidly evolving environment.
