Description
Our client, a dynamic and growing family-owned real estate business, is seeking a Property Accountant to oversee the full monthly accounting cycle for a select portfolio of properties. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in real estate who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Property Accounting Management:
Manage high-volume Accounts Payable and ensure timely payments of invoices, including utilities.
Input General Ledger and expense accrual journal entries into RealPage.
Process weekly manual check payments for site renovation projects.
Reconcile credit card statements for site expenses.
Provide copies of invoices, payments, and financial statements monthly.
Assist with annual site budgets and forecasts.
Perform quarterly Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
Property Account Financial Reporting:
Conduct bank reconciliations and manage check registers for all accounts.
Process security deposit refunds and handle NSF checks, stop payments, and reissued checks.
Perform monthly vendor aging analysis.
Prepare monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flows.
Analyze and explain current and year-to-date revenue and expense variances.
Generate monthly billing comparison reports and utility expense reconciliation for assigned properties.
Corporate Accounting:
Support the year-end close process by preparing lead schedules, supporting schedules, and audit binder reports.
Collect and distribute mail within the Corporate office.
Complete other duties as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years in Real Estate accounting or related Accounting experience.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as experience with RealPage, OneSite, or similar property management software.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and financial analysis, especially within residential properties.
Abilities: Skilled in bank reconciliation and financial statement analysis, with a capacity to manage multiple tasks, solve diverse issues, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.

Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
3-5+ years of real estate accounting experience (multi-family preferred).
Experience managing the full accounting cycle for a subset of properties.
