    Job Description

PROTEIN ANALYTICAL CHEMIST, Center for Biomedical Innovation (CBI), to join an interdisciplinary team of scientists working to develop advanced analytics and manufacturing processes for biotherapeutics such as monoclonal antibodies, viral vectors, and vaccines. Will develop and implement biophysical and biochemical analytical methods for characterization of quality attributes such as peptide mapping, glycosylation profile, oxidation, deamidation, sialyation, aggregation, and binding activity as applicable for protein biologics, gene therapies, and vaccines using a variety of methods, but with an emphasis on chromatography and mass spectrometry. Will work as part of a team that includes researchers at CBI and in the MIT departments of Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in analytical or organic chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, biochemical/chemical engineering, biological sciences, or related field; demonstrated hands-on experience and expertise in analytics for protein and particle characterization, including liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, transmission electron microscopy, ELISA, SDS-Page/Western Blot, SEC/FFF-MALS, biolayer interferometry, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry; experience with analytical method development, chromatographic preparation of samples from cell culture, data acquisition, and analysis; hands-on experience with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HPLC, LC-MS, SEC-MALS, and FFF-MALS; experience with quantitative analysis of cell culture metabolites; ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop and execute detailed technical protocols; strong documentation and written and oral communication skills; and ability to work independently and as part of a team. PREFERRED: experience working with bioreactors and cell culture development.
