    Job Description

RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE 2, Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), to join the McRose Lab (https://mcroselab.com/) , a multidisciplinary group studying microbial physiology, secondary metabolite production, and plant-microbe interactions. The group focuses on small molecule exchanges among and between plants and microbes and uses techniques from microbiology, molecular biology, and geosciences. Responsibilities will include bacterial culturing and plant cultivation, bacterial genetic transformations and screens, running liquid chromatography mass spectrometry samples, ordering supplies, and assisting with general instrument maintenance and lab upkeep. The position will provide opportunities to conduct independent research and co-author papers.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; exposure to wet lab research; experience with microbial culturing and genetics; ability to independently troubleshoot methods and experiments, critically approach results, and draw from existing methods and literature; ability to work with a high degree of independence, but also collaboratively as part of a team; self-motivation; excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills; ability to multitask and move projects forward quickly and efficiently. Prior required; PREFERRED: B.S./B.A. biology, biochemistry, or related science field, experience with mass spectrometry, microscopy, or plant biology preferred.
