Position Description:

Join an exciting and accomplished team to develop administrative applications for the Division of Continuing Education (DCE), one of 12 degree-granting schools at Harvard University.

The Salesforce DevOps Engineer reports to the Director for Platform Development and is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions built in the Salesforce ecosystem with its out-of-box platforms such as Lightning Web Components, Apex, and OmniStudio. This position will play a key role in developing and maintaining our critical Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) infrastructure in Bitbucket and Gearset. This role will also assist in monitoring, debugging, and resolving production issues.

  • Develop: Responsible for design, hands-on development and maintenance of end-to-end solutions using best practices and security standards while leveraging Salesforce development tools including Apex, Lightning Web Components, OmniStudio, Experience Builder, Flows, SOQL and integration technologies such as Web Services, XML, REST, and SOAP. This role understands business requirements and translates them into technical design & actionable software within the Salesforce environment.

  • DevOps: Develop and maintain CI/CD deployment pipelines to drive the development workflow with tools such as Gearset and Atlassian Bitbucket. Version control, branch management, code reviews, and assisting with merge conflicts are common practices.

  • Production Support & Maintenance: Help to monitor, troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software and system issues. Includes performing root cause analysis and data cleanup.

  • Collaboration: Participate in Agile development practices such as user story development, standup, backlog grooming, sprint planning and retrospective. This role will also work closely with developers and QA engineers in the Platform Solutions team as well as collaborate with IT managers, client stakeholders, and end users from departments across the Division to accomplish the development objectives.

  • Unit and Regression Testing: Develop unit tests and collaborate with QA engineers to develop test cases for QA automation testing. Work closely with business clients and end users to validate that deliverables meet requirements.

Work Format:Hybrid (partially on-site, partially remote) Work Format Details:

This position will be based in Cambridge, MA. Hybrid workplace models in place at DCE with a minimum of 2 days per week on campus. DCE or department may adjust these as necessary or appropriate.

All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). About Us:The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) comprises four academic units serving about 30,000 domestic and international students annually, which allow Harvard to meet the learning needs of intellectually curious and highly motivated students from high school through retirement. Established in 1910, the Harvard Extension School (HES) offers access to Harvard faculty for a diverse community of adult learners, enrolling about 15,000 students. HES offers over 1,000 open enrollment courses — 85 percent of which are accessible online — and provides flexibility through noncredit, undergraduate, and graduate courses, including degrees, certificates, and a premedical program. The Harvard Summer School, founded in 1871, offers around 450 credit and noncredit courses both on the Harvard Campus and online, catering to 10,000 high school, college, and adult learners. Additionally, it offers more than 15 international study abroad programs, hosting up to 300 students each summer. Harvard DCE Professional & Executive Development delivers over 140 noncredit programs annually, reaching more than 3,600 participants through online platforms and its executive development center in Cambridge.
