Thermo Fisher Scientifics' Portable Analytical Instruments team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer with a consistent record in circuit board design. This challenging hands-on engineering position requires an innovative and goal-oriented individual with strong verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary product development team that will design, test, and document electrical systems that will be integrated into state of the art analytical instrumentation, such as XRF elemental analyzers, molecular vibrational spectroscopy, and other analytical technologies.

How will you make an impact?

The Sr. Electrical Engineer will lead efforts to develop electronic products from requirements and project feasibility analysis through release to production. Responsibilities include the implementation of the electrical design, simulation, design characterization, documentation and interaction with contracted partners. She/he will specify, architect, develop, validate and detail the design of electronic subsystems within a portable, test apparatus. This role will reside in Tewksbury, MA.

What will you do?

  • Design and documentation for analog and digital circuits

  • Guide and review PCB layout

  • Design circuit boards for manufacturability

  • Design circuit boards for testability

  • Author test and verification plans

  • Test and debug of circuit boards and electronic systems

How will you get there?

Education/ Experience

  • BS degree with 7 years related experience; MS degree with 5 years related experience. Electrical Engineering degree preferred

  • Educational equivalency may be considered

  • Experience with Orcad/Cadence preferred

  • Product development expertise working with multiple subject areas such as software development, mechanical design, test engineering, and manufacturing preferred

  • Design for compliance with third party certification such as CE Mark preferred

  • Embedded systems experience preferred

  • Analytical systems experience preferred
