    Job Description

SENIOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANT, MIT Professional Education (MIT PE), to provide advanced-level support for the financial need of multiple programs within the department under the direction of the financial officer. The principal duties will include reviewing expenditures and processing financial transactions in MIT systems; responsibility for journal vouchers, requests for payment (RFPs), check deposits, supplemental compensation and royalty payments, travel reporting, accounts receivable, and P-Card verifications; researching and gathering information for financial projects; and serving as a subject matter expert to faculty, administration, and staff for financial processes. MIT Professional Education (PE) (https://professional.mit.edu/) , under the School of Engineering, offers a suite of education programs and products to serve the continuing educational needs of science and engineering professionals globally.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years of accounting or finance experience; strong analytical, organizational, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills; discretion with confidential and sensitive information; meticulous attention to detail; flexibility; proficiency with Excel, SAP, or other financial software; ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team, interact effectively with staff and faculty, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment; and ability to take the initiative to implement/ improve financial processes and identify and recommend solutions to complex problems. PREFERRED: bachelor's degree; experience with SAP, Coupa, and Concur; familiarity with Salesforce; and experience at MIT or in higher education.
