Microsoft Corporation Senior Program Manager in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The mission of the GEAR CxE (Governance, eDiscovery, Audit and Records Management Customer Experience Engineering) Team is to help customers onboard to our services and realize value from the suite of Microsoft 365 Compliance products (services). The key M365 Compliance products we work with are Microsoft Information Governance (MIG), Records Management (RM), Advanced eDIscovery (AeD), Advanced Audit and Data Connectors. Our team engages deeply with various internal teams as well as with customers and partners enabling them to effectively drive deployment, adoption, and usage across the M365 solution. We partner closely with our Product group to improve our products by gathering insights from the customers and partners we work with.

Role Description

Do you want to be at the forefront of a growing compliance practice within the Customer Experience team? Do you like working in a fast-paced environment with a team of smart, highly motivated deployment engineers? The Compliance CXE Product Manager will handle the technical aspects of onboarding customers and partners to the Microsoft cloud with a focus on Microsoft Information Governance and Discover and Respond products. This role entails providing proactive guidance to customers and insight gathering back to engineering, and as the CXE Product Manager you will drive the customer engineering relationship.

As the Security and Compliance practice grows in other areas (such as field, partners and internally) , this role will be responsible for mentoring and training additional resources. In addition, this resource is expected to be in the forefront of all engineering releases and assess the impact of service changes.


Key business metrics & responsibilities will include:

· Execute, manage, and lead customers & partners thru the onboarding process by providing remote guidance and following best practices

· Utilize your demonstrated technical skills and leadership to assist with removing adoption blockers

· Analyze, develop, and communicate key onboarding process and technology improvement feedback for the development/engineering teams in order to enhance the entire deployment cycle

· Develop, foster, and maintain effective working relationships with various groups within the organization including engineering, account teams, enterprise services\support, and partner teams to deliver key business metrics

Help customers realize the value of our products driving usage and insights: As a Compliance technology expert, you will enable customers to scale deployment, adoption, and usage of our products and define our customer’s experience with these services. You will use your technical subject matter expertise to train and enable the Microsoft internal and partner ecosystem, driving investments to build better products for our customers. Collaborate with internal and external communities to identify business and technical requirements and spearhead the continuous improvement of our products.

Product & Service Insights: Working with Compliance engineering teams, use your technical knowledge and expertise to help guide the future direction of our products and services. You will learn from customers, partners and FastTrack deployment efforts collecting product insights and driving those insights into our Product Engineering peers to influence product roadmap and improve our products. Ensure our customer and partner needs are understood and evangelized throughout the engineering organization as part of the development lifecycle is critical to our long-term business growth and sustainability.

Incubate new features and products: You will incubate new and exciting features and products with customers and ensure readiness through repeatable and scalable processes.


Successful candidates will demonstrate these skills/qualifications:

  • Technical Solution Leader with in-depth architect-level knowledge of M365 security offerings.

  • Expertise and ability to integrate complex elements and customer requirements into innovative technical architectures and position them within the context of M365 E5 compliance solutions

  • Enterprise customer level technical experience with design, configuration and implementation of Microsoft 365 E5 compliance offerings (Audit, eDiscovery, Records Management)

  • Ability to engage and lead CISO, DPO and CLO conversations.

  • Influence management as a trusted advisor to clarify risks to their business and where there may be potential blind spots. For example, providing clarification on risks to the business identified during an audit.

  • Leverage internal partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business. For example, coordinating with stakeholders to understand business objectives and areas of risk.

  • Interpret requirements from the ISO family of standards along with international regulations to form guidance for engineering teams

  • 2+ years of experience with compliance technologies working to deliver and/or support customers through modern transformation programs.

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
