Experience and familiarity with both higher education and public health, along with a strong commitment to the School’s educational and public health missions

Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication, as well as judgment, discretion, and attention to detail
Experience interacting effectively with faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, visiting dignitaries and other guests
Capacity to quickly understand and synthesize research, and translate to written materials

Experience working independently (while seeking guidance as needed), as a team member, and across institutional departments

Department:Dean's Office AdministrationPre-Employment Screening:Education, IdentityJob Function:Communications Job-Specific Responsibilities: The Senior Scientific Writer and Researcher (SSWR) provides support to the Dean of the Faculty at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health on a range of written communications for internal and external audiences. These may include speeches, briefing documents, op-eds, letters, talking points, short concept notes, blogs, PowerPoint presentations and other special projects to be determined. The SSWR will also conduct required research to facilitate impactful writing on behalf of the Dean, and will work independently to conceptualize and execute writing assignments from first to final draft.
This position is part of the administrative team that directly supports the Dean. They will work closely with the Chief of Staff, the Senior Administrative Manager, the Senior Strategic Communications Advisor to the Dean, and the Dean’s Office events team.
In addition, the SSWR will collaborate beyond the Dean’s Office, including with the Office of Communications, the Office for External Relations, and other administrative offices at the School and University. The SSWR will also be responsible for performing other duties as required.

PLEASE NOTE: The primary work location for this position is Boston, Massachusetts. Until our return to campus, which is still to-be-determined, this interview process and position will be conducted virtually – including virtual interviews, remote onboarding, and remote work. The remote nature of this position is only temporary.
