Job Description
SOFTWARE DEVELOPER 2, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL)-MIT RAISE (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education) (https://raise.mit.edu/) , to play a key role in the evolution, operation, and educational research with an emphasis on developing and supporting technology that will be integrative across three RAISE initiatives. RAISE builds tools that let everyone participate as creators in the information society, including young children and others with no prior technical training. Will collaborate closely with developers across RAISE in creating shared technology, addressing development priorities, and providing support for RAISE team members and external users. Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in computer science/computer engineering or related engineering field; five years’ experience in a production software position, including responsibility for large implementations; experience/familiarity with Java, JavaScript, Android, and/or iOS platforms; comfort with a variety of programming paradigms, including functional programming in dynamic languages, server-side technologies, and web client technologies like AJAX; experience as a member of a development team that has implemented a substantial system that has been successfully deployed to a diverse set of users in a web environment; previous operational responsibility for a system with thousands of active users; effective written communication and presentation skills; familiarity with current work in educational technology, including App Inventor, Scratch, and StarLogo TNG; and ability to participate in the global research community around educational technology and the design of programming tools for learners as part of a diverse, creative team. PREFERRED: master’s/Ph.D.; familiarity with/experience building conversational AI tools using platforms like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant; experience creating mobile applications for Android and iOS devices; experience with cloud computing tools and platforms, e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Kubernetes.
