  • Bachelor’s degree in technology, training, education, records management, or related field and/or at least two years of demonstrated experience with e-Learning development

  • Proficiency with commercial learning platforms and development tools (preferably Articulate Storyline/Rise and SABA)

  • Experience creating training content to be used on a mobile platform (preferably iPhone/iPad)

  • Experience with video editing and screen recording

  • Proven ability to successfully manage complex programs; demonstration of the skills necessary to successfully initiate, plan, execute, and close complex projects and effectively lead project teams that may include senior management. A strong focus on EH&S program implementation for diverse clients.

  • Use strong communication skills to convey learning concepts to those being trained, innovate and improve current courses so they are more engaging and scalable.

  • Must have excellent behavioral competencies such as strong customer service orientation and organization skills and empathy for those who struggle to acquire technological learning/training competencies

  • Attention to detail, a strong sense of accountability, positive attitude, a bias for action, a high level of integrity, diplomacy, advocacy, self-confidence, and resourcefulness.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operations environment, handling multiple assignments for independent operating units.

  • Computer experience is required with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Must have the ability to efficiently learn proprietary systems and new applications as needed.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Certification in e-Learning Instructional Design preferred

  • Experience using People Soft and Service Now and providing customer support through a ticketing system preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of environmental health and safety programs experience preferred

This position is part of the Central Management Systems and Programs Group (CMSP) within EH&S and primarily supports the EH&S Training Programs. This position will develop online trainings in e-Learning software, such as Storyline and RISE, under the direction of the Training program manager and the EHS discipline managers. This position will be involved in supporting other programs within the CMSP group including emergency response, IT systems, and environmental compliance, and other projects as assigned.

  • Support the Training Manager and EH&S Program Managers to plan, design, execute, deliver and evaluate training content.

  • Develop SCORM compliant e-Learning using a variety of education technology tools and products, including Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Presenter and similar software.

  • Upload and configure e-Learning content into Harvard’s learning management system, the Harvard Training Portal (HTP).

  • Participate in an internal peer review process with EH&S Program Managers, management team and others to review and assess all EH&S online and instructor-led courses.

  • Review customer service evaluations for courses on a routine basis to identify opportunities for improvements to the courses.

  • Stay current on e-Learning trends to ensure that online courses conform to accessibility requirements, department/industry best practices, emerging technologies and mobile compatibility.

  • Collaborate with other HTP/peoplsoft System Administrators to diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to trainings within HTP; provide in-person, email and/or phone training and support to EH&S staff and customers as necessary on data operational activities. Use Service Now system to track all HTP-related issues. Manage permissions for these systems.

  • Manage the entry of course completion details into the learning management system to ensure compliance with all applicable recordkeeping requirements.

  • Provide training on the learning management system to EH&S staff and customers as needed.

  • Prepare and maintain EH&S training and lab personnel records, review complex documents, reports, etc., to assure compliance with University requirements and/or government regulations

  • Audit training data on a regular basis to ensure data integrity and quality, reconcile data as needed to ensure integrity, and escalate data issues needing process re-engineering to the appropriate team for resolution

Other Duties May Include:

This position is a key component of the overall Harvard EH&S management system and as such, the candidate participates in EH&S teams, cross training activities, and initiatives intersecting with and occasionally beyond strictly training programs. These responsibilities may include, operational support for environmental programs, building or other inspections, support for EHS communications, and website development, or other duties as assigned.
