    Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, NEUROSCIENCE, McGovern Institute for Brain Research, to work in the laboratory of Professor Guoping Feng (https://fenglaboratory.org/) . Professor Feng is leading a large collaborative effort to use marmosets as model animals for the study and treatment of complex brain disorders such as autism and schizophrenia. Will primarily be responsible for handling animals and performing research manipulations such as intramuscular/intravenous injections, blood draws, sonographic imaging, and tissue sample collections; supporting all phases of assisted reproductive procedures, including preparing tools and animals, monitoring anesthesia, and providing post-operational care; assisting with the daily care of animals and providing supplemental treatments to them; participating in health checks and facility rounds; tracking and ensuring the accuracy of colony census data, medical treatments, and research activities in an electronic medical record system; coordinating schedules between researchers and the veterinarian team; and assisting the external and internal collaborations, including meeting scheduling, preparations, and clean up.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in animal science, biology, neuroscience, or a related field; two years of related experience, preferably in a lab setting; excellent organizational and communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; and the ability to be punctual. PREFERRED: experience working with nonhuman primates and/or large animals in a research setting.
