    Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE II, Biological Engineering-Fraenkel Laboratory (https://fraenkel.mit.edu/) , to carry out experimental work in close collaboration with lab researchers. Will contribute to advanced research in human stem cells and biological imaging for disease and develop skills in state-of-the-art experimental/computational technologies. The main responsibilities will include maintaining various human pluripotent stem cell lines (hPSC) and developing hPSC-derived neuron-based imaging and functional assays; performing various biochemical assays and reagent preparation to support the experimental works of the lab members; modifying and developing protocols/techniques; and performing other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least four years of wet lab benchwork experience related to biological research projects (may include undergraduate experiences such as internships and research projects); background in the biological sciences; ability to learn, troubleshoot, and work independently; ability to carefully document and maintain work; and strong time management skills that include the ability to work on multiple projects at a time. PREFERRED: master’s degree; research, work experience, or coursework in any of the following - cell culture (preferably with human stem cells; immunostaining, confocal microscopy, and immunofluorescent image analysis; ImageJ/FIJI, napari, R, MATLAB, and/or Python experience; and experience working collaboratively with data scientists and biologists.
