Job Summary
Cost of care analytics is a central component of Point32Health’s strategic and operational process and is relied upon to provide insights into historical drivers of trend as well as to identify tangible opportunities for trend mitigation. This management position will provide leadership to the Point32Health trend analytics process, with a focus on one or more of the three major lines of business – Commercial, Senior Products, and/or State Government Programs. The role will have a staff of one or more healthcare analysts and/or actuarial analysts. Responsibilities involve the management of the trend process data mart, including the oversight of a monthly refresh process, data stewardship for enhancements and issue resolution, as well as preparation of trend analytic presentations for review with line of business leaders. This role will research, develop and implement new trend analytic techniques to provide best in class insights to business leaders. The position will also collaborate with Point32Health’s cross functional Medical Cost Innovation teams to provide consultation and validation of the financial impact of initiatives, provide analytic support for forecasting as well as support for the construction of value-based contracts with health management vendors.
Critical to this role is the ability to manage complex, data intensive analytic processes and to keep up with industry leading costs of care analytic techniques. An understanding of the health insurance industry, strong interpersonal skills and technical proficiency in relational databases, data warehouses, Excel and statistical modeling are required. This role works in a fast-paced environment where the ability to prioritize and multi-task is critical.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Managerial Responsibilities
- Recruits, trains, develops and supervises analyst-level staff through direct or matrix reporting.
Planning, Design, Project/Process Management
- Independently executes and/or oversees a portfolio of closely related projects or
analytic
- Manages all processes including the identification of objectives, scope and deliverables, as well as communication of issues and results
Technical Analysis
Uses THP data systems and query tools to complete work projects, developing new code and tools to meet objectives
Designs and builds technical processes to address business issues
Provides input into and/or help structure program code for more junior staff
Oversees the technical work of others
Checking/Validation/Peer Review
Develops criteria to validate results in light of prior expectations. Investigates unusual results and offers explanations.
Assists colleagues and more junior staff with validation/checking activities
Ensures the accuracy of deliverables through oversight of the work of others
Analysis/Interpretation
Examines and interprets results in the context of the specific business questions being addressed
Identifies new questions and/or unforeseen data complexities arising from results and takes steps to address them
Integrates information from multiple sources to interpret results in larger business context
Vets results with organizational stakeholders to gain alternative views and reach agreement on interpretation
Communication/Presentation of Results
Packages results to demonstrate link between analysis and broad business context
Ensures that deliverables meet stakeholder needs and are packages and presented to facilitate understanding and action
Requirements
EDUCATION:
Master’s Degree in related field or equivalent education / training EXPERIENCE:
4+ years of responsible healthcare actuarial / analytic experience
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in supervising analytic processes and teams
Demonstrated experience and aptitude in analytic project design
Proficiency with Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Sufficient understanding of SPSS, SQL, MS Access and similar applications to oversee the work of others
Familiarity with financial reporting / accounting concepts
Highly developed oral and written communication skills
Ability to operate in a matrix environment
Ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to identify issues and roadblocks and participate in their resolution
Ability to influence and resolve conflict within own staff and/or project team
