State of Massachusetts Assistant Chief Fiscal Officer in Canton, Massachusetts

The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Chief Fiscal Officer. With a staff of approximately 130 employees, the District Attorney's Office works with court personnel and the law enforcement community every day to prosecute approximately 20,000 cases a year. The Finance Department plays a critical role in day-to-day operations of the office. Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Fiscal Officer, the Assistant Chief Fiscal Officer (ACFO) is responsible for a variety of fiscal-related functions at the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office. The ACFO will play a critical role in implementing and maintaining the office budget, financial strategy and long-term financial planning. The ACFO is responsible for financial grant management, budgeting, procurement, payroll, accounts payable and other financial actions, and ensures that all policies, programs and procedures are in compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Assist with the planning, directing, controlling, evaluating and assessing the functions of budget, fiscal management and procurement. * Prepares and manages grant budgets and is responsible for fiscal reporting for State and Federal grants. Prepare and maintain the office’s state and federal grants’ financial records, including applications, budget planning and reporting documents. * Work within the Massachusetts Management Accounting and Reporting System (MMARS). * Oversee the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports. * Assist with preparing and monitoring the annual budget and spending plans and perform annual end of fiscal year close out activities. * Ensure the maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures to comply with all federal and state requirements. * Perform personnel and payroll functions, including the use of the Human Resources Compensation Management System (HRCMS) to hire and terminate employees and perform routine updates to personnel records as needed. * The ACFO must be able to multi-task; this position requires a proactive but flexible professional who can transition from one task to another at any time. Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field. * At least 5 years of work experience preferable within finance, budget management or related field. * Previous work experience within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, specifically within Financial Operations is highly desirable. * Experience with, and proficiency in MMARS and HR/CMS. * Proficiency with MS Office applications with an emphasis on Excel. * Ability to work with others at all levels of the organization. Starting salary will be based on the qualifications of the individual hired for this position. Anticipated hiring range at this time is $75,000-$100,000 annually. This position is primarily in person with the potential for one day a week remote work.
