Job Summary

The Director, Instructional Design will be a key leader within our Corporate Learning and Development function, playing a critical role in shaping and executing the broader talent strategy. This position will oversee a team capable of supporting enterprise-wide learning and development programs, delivering consistent solutions across Point32Health. This role will also focus on technical training, including knowledge management and facilitation, currently housed within the business units.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive instructional design strategy aligned with the company's talent development goals.

• Lead, mentor, and manage an instructional design team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing

  • Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive instructional design strategy aligned with the company's talent development goals.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 14 instructional designers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with learning partner, senior leaders, and key stakeholders across the organization to identify learning and development needs, scope projects, and evaluate program effectiveness, while also identifying and responding to business-specific nuances that require additional programming or services.

  • Program Development and Management:

  • Set the direction for instructional design practices, ensuring alignment with industry best practices

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of high-quality, scalable learning solutions that support enterprise-wide programs.

  • Ensure instructional design projects meet the needs of diverse learners, leveraging various delivery methods (e.g., e-learning, instructor-led training, blended learning).

  • Establish and maintain standards for instructional design, ensuring consistency and excellence across all training materials and programs.

  • Technical Training and Knowledge Management:

  • Integrate technical training initiatives into the broader learning and development strategy.

  • Oversee knowledge management processes to ensure the efficient capture, storage, and dissemination of organizational knowledge.

  • Ensure training programs are up-to-date, relevant, and effectively address the skills and knowledge needed across the organization.

  • Design & Delivery:

  • Provide guidance and support to instructional designers, subject-matter experts, and other contributors to ensure consistent performance and adherence to project timelines and budgets.

  • Ensure that all instructional design efforts are aligned with the company’s values, goals, and culture.

  • Explore the use of authoring tools, content management tools, and generative-AI tools to enhance learning experiences.

  • Evaluation and Improvement:

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of learning and development programs and continuously monitor progress.

  • Implement metrics and evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of learning programs and initiatives.

  • Continuously improve instructional design processes and methodologies based on feedback and data-driven insights.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with business units to understand their unique training needs and ensure alignment with corporate learning objectives.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to ensure the successful implementation and adoption of learning programs.

  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

Certification and Licensure

Education

  • Required (minimum):Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, or a related field

  • Preferred: Master’s degree preferred

Experience

  • Required (minimum):Minimum of 8-10years of experience ininstructional design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Preferred:

Skill Requirements

  • Deep experience in learning and development practices, with a focus on ensuring for an excellent colleague experience, that is relevant across businesses.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing large-scale learning and development programs.

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and e-learning development tools.

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience managing a team of instructional designers and subject matter experts.

  • Experience with knowledge management and facilitation is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with learning management and learning experience systems (LMS/ LXP) and e-learning authoring tools.

Working Conditions and Additional Requirements (include special requirements, e.g., lifting, travel) :

  • Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.

  • Work may requiresimultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard andsitting for extended durations.

  • May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.
