Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Reporting & Insights or a similar role, the Lead Analyst – Modeling & Reporting is responsible for membership analytics and reporting and financial modeling, specifically linking KPIs to financials.

In addition, this position will also support the creation of presentations, data gathering, and packaging for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) and Monthly Business Reviews (MBR). The role involves creating reports for leadership, producing actionable insights, and addressing ad hoc reporting needs.

Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing

  • Understands drivers of financial performance in healthcare and the linkages between financial and non-financial KPIs and model results.

  • Develop membership and KPI reporting to support monthly MBR / QBR, Deep Dives, MLR management forums and reporting needs of Business Performance.

  • Leads projects and initiatives as assigned.

  • Investigates unusual results and offers explanations.

  • Packages results to demonstrate how the analysis meets plan / strategy objectives.

  • Supports the Business Performance team in the development and ongoing production of financial reporting for the continuous identification of business performance improvement opportunities.

  • Provides ad hoc analytic support to lines of business market teams as assigned

  • Monitors and manages progress toward business performance goals, defines metrics and KPIs as needed.

  • Develop and implement a membership outlook process.

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

Education, Certification and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, health care or related field.

  • MBA strongly preferred

Experience (minimum years required) :

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in healthcare analytics

  • Strong working knowledge of health insurance claims and health care delivery system preferred

  • Experience in financial performance analytics and the generation of actionable insights

  • Strong working proficiency required in understanding and utilizing: Excel and Power Point

Skill Requirements

  • Outstanding analytic and data story telling skills with the ability to synthesize and organize large data for meaningful use and action

  • Strong organizational skills, to be able to package MBR/QBR materials from various departments, across all lines of business

  • Well-developed presentation and communication skills

  • Understands linkages between financial and non-financial KPIs (e.g. STARS, Admits per K, attrition metrics).

  • Preferred knowledge of majority of the following: SQL, SAS or Alteryx, Tableau or MicroStrategy

  • Energetic and proactive individual who strikes the right balance between self- initiation and collaborating with others

  • Demonstrated ability to master new content quickly

  • Must be able to manage and direct multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
