POSITION SUMMARY :

The Hairdresser provides hair services to all residents both female and male. Organize and schedule all hair appointments for the Overlook residents.  Services include perms, hair treatments, and hair color application. The Hairdresser is also responsible for hair grooming including washing, drying, cuts, trims, and wash and sets. The Hairdresser will confirm and accommodate daily appointments with Residents.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

The following duties are normal for this position.  This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Ensure all residents have a scheduled appointment for hair services, confirm appointments, keep track of appointments.

  • Discover, order and purchase all needed supplies for salon.

  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and well-kept salon space.

  • Provide an environment that is warm, welcoming, and friendly to all residents served.

  • Provide and maintain appropriate documentation for all supplies used in the hair salon.

  • Document all services provided to residents for appropriate billing information.

  • Position requires transporting residents to and from appointment.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Engagement.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent - required

  • Current Cosmetology Certification - required

  • 2 to 4 years’ experience as a Hairdresser, or similar - preferred

  • Experience working with the elderly population - preferred

  • Experience developing and following budget - preferred

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS :

    ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

  • Work primarily indoors in a climate controlled setting.

  • Possible exposure to unpleasant odors

  • Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual

  • Possible exposure to infections, diseases and blood borne pathogens

  • Continuous exposure to residents who are ill, confused, irritable and irrational

  • Subject to hostile and emotionally upset family members, personnel and visitors

  • May work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary

  • Requires frequent walking and moving throughout the facility campus

The organization embraces its rich history and heritage, owning and managing 218 Independent Living Apartment Homes and Cottages, 28 Enhanced Care Private Suites, a 14- Suite Assisted Living Memory Care neighborhood, 27-unit Short-term Post-Acute Rehabilitation, 112-bed Long Term Care Skilled Nursing, as well as Home Health, Hospice, Palliative Care, Private Duty and Care Management divisions.
