Position Summary:

The Boston-area facility is Catalent’s global Center of Excellence for spray dry dispersion and Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) capsule manufacture and packaging. The site features inhaled powder spray drying, as well as multiple commercial-scale lines for capsule filling and blister packaging. On-site spray dryers include best-in-class GEA Niro SD1, SD4 and SD7, the latter being the largest CGMP unit of its kind for DPI in North America.

Catalent Pharma Solutions is hiring an Associate Director, Facilities who leads the team that manages facility activities and projects, including routine and preventative maintenance, metrology, project or capital improvements, business continuity planning, cost reduction, reliability engineering and general facility upkeep to support production operations and ensure a safe and presentable workplace. This role regularly communicates status of all repair and project work to site leadership. The Associate Director, Facilities also drives the creation, improvement and execution of maintenance and plant standards to achieve maximum availability of production equipment.

This is a full-time salaried role. This is onsite. The core hours are Monday – Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM

The Role

  • Responsible for the management of building, equipment, and grounds; specifically overseeing facilities, maintenance, and metrology departments;

  • Has a strong focus on people, processes, engineering and technology to stay competitive with client and employee expectations;

  • Is vocal in tier meetings driving improvement and transparency cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, Engineering and Process Development;

  • Manages the team of managers, technicians, mechanics, and support staff required to maintain the facility and equipment to required standards of availability, cleanliness, and order;

  • Ensure appropriate staffing, proper training and development and performance management for the team;

  • Manage capital and non-capital projects to improve capacity, quality, efficiency, utilization, and safety. Responsible for planning and forecasting as well as departmental budget;

  • Responsible for plant or manufacturing equipment projects to maximize output, minimize cost and support efficiencies on new or existing equipment;

  • Keep abreast of and provide support to plant personnel on water systems, HVAC, plant and equipment layouts, water treatment, air systems, expansions, structural details, material handling and auxiliary equipment;

  • Be involved with and knowledgeable of programs, regulations, and the requirements of city, state, and federal environmental agencies as it relates to the business. Support the GMP efforts in the plant as they relate to the facility;

  • All other duties as assigned

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree required;

  • Minimum of 8+ years of Facilities, Metrology and Engineering experience involving mechanical, electrical, and building utility types of work;

  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience required. Experience managing Managers is preferred but not required;

  • Must have experience with capital expenditure and project related work;

  • Must be able to effectively use AutoCAD, MS Project, and MS Office programs such Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;

  • Working knowledge of the principles of electricity, electronics, mechanical and plant operating systems.

  • Must be able to read blueprints & schematic drawings; knowledge of such items as plant systems and related equipment/utilities appropriate to this role.

  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience

  • Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds;
