State of Massachusetts Civil Background Screening Coordinator in Chelsea, Massachusetts

The Department of Criminal Justice Information Services (DCJIS) manages and administers the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Law Enforcement Information and Criminal Records Systems such as CORI, SAFIS, the Firearms Records Bureau (FRB), and the Post-Conviction Victim Notification Program. DCJIS is seeking a Primary Civil Background Screening Coordinator for the NCJA, iCORI, and SAFIS systems. This position will ensure proper and accurate criminal record information is made available in accordance with the Massachusetts General Laws and established policies and procedures. Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities Research and process civil background check requests daily. These will involve various online candidate queues including SAFIS, iCORI, and NCJA. Review and screen criminal background requests. Including distribution in various queues and stages for disposition type, offense type, incarceration release dates and several Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) levels of access, all in accordance with the Massachusetts General Laws. Conduct further research through query of relevant databases and systems to ensure accurate results are being disseminated. Ensure FBI,CHRI and CORI records are screened daily and identify records that may require additional research. Ensure FBI, CHRI and CORI records are accurately classified and screened in accordance with applicable laws. Performs other related duties as required and directed. First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.* II. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.* Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. *An Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
