The Neighborhood Developers, Inc CONNECT Data Enhancement VISTA in Chelsea, Massachusetts
Overview TND is a non-profit community development organization with a mission to create strong neighborhoods enabling community members to secure a stable home, achieve economic mobility, and determine their own future. We build affordable homes, support households to achieve greater financial mobility, and organize community leaders on issues related to neighborhood conditions as well as social and housing justice. TNDs headquarters is in Chelsea, where it has operated since 1978. The organization was invited into Revere in 2010, and since 2018, we are also offering some of our services in Everett. For more information see www.theneighborhooddevelopers.org. Starting in April 2025, the 2025 2026 CONNECT Data Enhancement VISTA will provide one-year of full-time service that results in increased efficiency for our CONNECT and Data & Learning teams and helps them optimize their use of our Salesforce database. The VISTA will help streamline systems that link clients with low incomes and/or limited English proficiency to multiple economic mobility services available at CONNECT, since clients who bundle or access multiple services are more likely to move out of poverty. This VISTA role is an ideal opportunity for someone who has good analytical and research skills and who enjoys handling data. The VISTA year will provide excellent experience for a candidate interested in data science, real estate development or social science research; the VISTA will gain highly marketable skills and leave TND with tangible and transformative tools to better meet its mission. Duties and Responsibilities Complete the Salesforce training necessary to make informed observations about how to enhance TNDs and CONNECTs current use of the Salesforce database. Support the streamlining of CONNECTs current client intake system. Help CONNECT make more efficient use of the Salesforce database. These efforts may include: Optimizing Salesforce integrations with other systems (such as email, texts, calls, and meetings.) Creating a mechanism for flagging urgent CONNECT cases in Salesforce. Researching and implementing a strategy for creating and tracking tasks in Salesforce. Helping to develop a Salesforce dashboard for viewing monthly metrics, aging cases, and overdue tasks. Refine TNDs Community Data Hub which provides community data and wayfinding tools. Build a process guide for sustainable long-term maintenance and growth of the Data Hub. Collaborate with TNDs Communications and Community Building teams to create a targeted plan to engage the community with the Data Hub. Develop new elements of the Community Data Hub in response to community feedback and to support advocacy efforts. Please note that this is a VISTA member position, not a staff position. The CONNECT Data Enhancement VISTA member will be supervised by the SVP of Data & Learning and will work closely with the CONNECT Director. The VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program provides full-time volunteers to nonprofit, faith-based and other community organizations to create and expand programs that bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty. In Suffolk County (where TND is located), service members receive a bi-weekly living allowance of \$1320.06 and are eligible for an education award at the end of their year of service. The education award was \$7,395.00 for full year members in FY24 (subject to change). You can find more information about the AmeriCorps VISTA program here.
