State of Massachusetts Datacenter Facilities Manager in Chelsea, Massachusetts

The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS)is the state’s lead office for information technology. EOTSS provides enterprise level information technology services including network management and security; computer operations; application hosting; desktop provisioning and management; and modern and responsive digital services to 40,000 internal stakeholders plus the residents, business owners and visitors to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. EOTSS is seeking to hire aDatacenter Facilities Managerto join our Operations team. TheDatacenter Facilities Managerwill play a critical role in the planning, management, and operation of Commonwealth of Massachusetts datacenter facilities in Chelsea, Boston, Lowell, and Springfield. The incumbent will utilize their expertise in all facets of datacenter facility operations, including but not limited to, power, cooling, and capacity planning. TheDatacenter Facilities Managerwill be responsible for the operational integrity of the datacenter electrical, mechanical, and fire suppression systems. The primary work location for this role will be at200 Arlington Street, Chelsea, Massachusetts 02150.The work schedule for this position isMonday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST.Schedules are subject to change based on the operational needs of the business. This role is expected to perform 24x7 on-call and after hours support as authorized and required. This opportunity is afull on-site schedule of reporting. _Duties and Responsibilities:_ * Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of datacenter infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, and equipment installations. * Monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facility systems (electrical, mechanical, building monitoring, and control). * Ensure the Computer Room Air Conditioning systems (CRAC Units), Fire Suppression systems, and leak detection systems are maintained. * Establish, maintain, schedule, coordinate, and supervise work with DCAMM (Department of Capital Asset Management), vendors, and consultants. * Lead in the design of datacenter physical infrastructure and requirements such as cable plant environments and space planning. * Develop a capacity floor plan for datacenters and non-IT areas, including datacenter rack layout, conference rooms, cubicles, and offices for all EOTSS facilities. * Determine maintenance requirements and develop a complete preventative and maintenance schedule for mechanical and electrical systems. * Make decisions within broadly defined standard practices and procedures regarding hardware installation, space planning and allocation, power distribution, HVAC, environmental monitoring, and cable plant design. * Work with various EOTSS building management and support teams to address capacity shortfalls, facilities related issues, and datacenter projects. * Perform monitoring of end of life (EOL) for equipment and assist with executing the technology refresh process. * Coordinate, plan for, schedule, and assist with hardware installations, relocations, and removals. * Enforce procedures for movement of hardware, datacenter vendor work, and cabling installations. * Ensure all maintenance work is consistently documented in accordance with EOTSS change management processes and procedures. * Proactively troubleshoot customer issues and work closely with other EOTSS units to ensure customer issues are resolved promptly and to the customer’s satisfaction. * Understand and communicate EOTSS’s datacenter facility standards to customers. * Manage and provide strong leadership for the EOTSS’s Facilities team. * Provide feedback to senior management on the effectiveness of existing standards and processes; make recommendations for improvement as appropriate. _Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:_ * Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting a complex mission-critical datacenter facility. * Must have experience ordering products/services and managing vendors. * Experience in the following specialized skills: o Power and HVAC distribution and management o Network connectivity planning o Space capacity planning with Visio or CAD o Inventory/asset system maintenance * Experience with data trending, tracking, analysis, and use, as well as integrated critical monitoring systems. * Familiarity with facility management software. * Knowledge of all areas of datacenter environmental facilities and support functions. * Demonstrated knowledge in industrial safety practices (i.e. lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA, and state regulations). * Possess a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in large scale datacenters. * Passion to stay current with industry standards, new technologies, and best practices through attending training and performing research. * Highly driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems. * Ability to coordinate, supervise, and coordinate with facilities team members, contractors, and vendors. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience. IV.
