State of Massachusetts Quality Assurance Analyst II in Chelsea, Massachusetts

Agency Overview: The Executive Office for Administration and Finance (A&F) plans and executes fiscal and administrative policies that serve to ensure the financial stability, efficiency, and effectiveness of state government. The key responsibilities of A&F include managing the operational and capital budgets of the Commonwealth and managing funds received from the federal government. A&F IT is a unit under the Executive Office for Administration & Finance (A&F) and is overseen by the Secretariat Chief Information Officer (SCIO). A&F IT is a team of approximately 300 skilled and committed IT professionals who develop and maintain technical solutions that address business challenges for Executive Office of Administration and Finance agencies. Position Summary: The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of web applications, with a specific focus on .NET applications and solutions built on the Microsoft Power Platform. This role requires a deep understanding of software testing methodologies, technical concepts, and the software development life cycle. The ideal candidate will have experience working with SQL Server and Oracle databases, including writing SQL queries to support testing efforts. In addition to testing, the QA Analyst will provide timely production support and contribute to ongoing and special projects within the division. This role involves both independent work and collaboration within project teams, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. Duties and Responsibilities: * * Collaborate both independently and within a project team to design, develop and deliver test plans for new and existing functionality. * Write clear, concise, and comprehensive use cases and test plans to ensure thorough testing of all application features. * Continuously design and execute regression test plans in response to frequent and rapid changes. * Generate and analyze data for tests, triage defects to draw conclusions, define issues and provide appropriate recommendations for resolution. * Perform thorough requirement analysis to establish and define application use cases and test plans that align with business objectives. * Provide detailed quality assurance analysis for .NET applications. * Provide timely production support on all A&F-IT applications, as needed. * Act as a dependable source of early feedback on new functionality and feature changes. * Stay up to date with assigned tasks and provide regular progress reports to management. * Assumes additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned by management, supporting the completion of special and/or ongoing projects within the division. * Comply with all administrative and customer service policies within the department and bureau, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and customer satisfaction. *Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies: * Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Analyst or in a similar role, particularly with .NET applications. * Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC) and quality assurance methodologies. * Proficiency in writing and executing test plans, use cases, and regression tests. * Experience with defect management and data analysis. * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work both independently and within a team, managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. * Familiarity with production support processes and the ability to provide timely solutions to issues. This position is assigned to A&F IT's offices at, MITC 200 Arlington Street, Chelsea, Massachusetts. Currently, this position will require in-person and virtual presence, as assigned by the supervisor.
