State of Massachusetts Senior Application Developer in Chelsea, Massachusetts
The Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS)is the state’s lead office for information technology. We provide enterprise level information technology services including network management and security; computer operations; application hosting; desktop provisioning and management; and modern and responsive digital services to 40,000 internal stakeholders plus the residents, business owners and visitors to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. EOTSS is seeking to hire aSenior Application Developerto join the Enterprise Integration Services Team. TheSenior Application Developerwill be responsible for ensuring that all applications remain operational through troubleshooting, identifying, prioritizing, and resolving issues in a timely manner. The incumbent will support daily activities for multiple functional areas and systems that support 24/7 operations. TheSenior Application Developerwill facilitate change management activities between the project team and IT service groups and participate in all phases of the project life cycle with an emphasis on application development, configuration, and thorough understanding of system architecture and design. The primary work location for this role will be at200 Arlington Street, Chelsea, Massachusetts 02150.The work schedule for this position isMonday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.This role is expected to perform after hours and weekend support as authorized and requested. This position would be expected to follow ahybridmodel of reporting to work that combines in-office workdays and work from home days as needed. _Duties and Responsibilities:_ * Install, configure, and maintain applications running on Windows and Linux platforms * Ensure system backups, patching, and other maintenance are performed on an established schedule * Participate in all phases of the application development and configuration lifecycle * Facilitate change management activities between the project team and IT service groups * Collaborate with customers and internal/external teams to ensure development, configuration, and implementation are consistent with user specifications * Handle all customer requests promptly within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) * Manage assigned tasks through completion including performing all required follow-up activities * Advise leadership and management on administrative and operational problems pertaining to system management and administration * Adhere to all quality, organizational, legal, and Commonwealth processes, policies, procedures, and standards * Create and maintain documentation for technical specifications and configurations in accordance with EOTSS enterprise integration and application development methodology * Provide 24/7/365 on-call support for assigned platforms _Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:_ * Two (2) years of experience in production support on mission critical systems * Three (3) years of experience as a developer working on complex systems and supporting applications hosted on physical and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) * Strong hands-on experience with Windows/Linux platforms and Apache Tomcat * Demonstrated experience with physical and cloud platforms including AWS and Azure * Hands-on experience with scripting (PowerShell, Batch) and database querying (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) * Familiarity with system integrations and testing * Experience with front-end development languages including JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to independently analyze reported issues, document, and recommend solutions * Proficiency in enterprise collaboration, content management, data analysis, and testing tools (SharePoint, JIRA, or similar platforms) * Proven experience in writing technical specifications and configuration documentation * Methodical and able to follow documented procedures and instructions * Ability to collaboratively work with technical and non-technical staff as well as upper management * Excellent communication and writing skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of an organization _Education and Certifications:_ * Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
