Boston College Admissions Asst SSW #3547 in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Admission, the Admissions Assistant coordinates all aspects of the admission process related to program information dissemination, collection of electronic applications, & communication of admission & scholarship decisions. In addition, the Admissions Assistant coordinates the process for awarding graduate assistantships, organizes volunteer peer advisors, & supervises student employees. Specific job functions include prospective student customer service, application & scholarship process management, database maintenance, event planning, coordination of graduate assistantships, & other duties. Manage day-to-day operations of Admissions Office. Provide excellent customer service to prospective students & their families. Welcome and greet visitors in person or on the phone; answer e-mail or phone inquiries regarding academic programs & resources; provides advice to students & their families regarding admissions and/or records & registration process & eligibility; interact with students and/or families to follow up on missing or deficient information; resolve problems related to admissions process by clarifying complaint, determining cause of the problem, and advising the best solution. Manage collection of application materials for MSW & PhD applicants. Review, verify, & assess applications & supporting documentation in accordance with established guidelines to determine admission eligibility. Contribute to the build out & maintenance of Slate CRM system as a power user & a resource for the School of Social Work. Contribute to the development of Slate at the University as part of the BCSSW Slate team. Coordinate various admission related events pre-and post-selection. Create & maintain the various admission & financial aid databases to be shared by Admissions. Field Education, & Student Services.Provide internal customer service with advice & guidance to other departments within the School & University. Attend Graduate & Professional School Fairs, & other trade meetings as needed. Coordinate the award of graduate assistantships. Requirements Bachelor?s degree strongly preferred. At least two years of college admissions experience is required. The Admissions Program Assistant must be a self-starter, & able to work independently in a deadline oriented environment. They should be able operate in a diverse settings & surroundings. The ability to set priorities is imperative. Be highly proficient in use of all standard office equipment. Proficient with PCs (Word and Excel), on-line student information systems, & other appropriate office equipment. Ability to represent BC & the School of Social Work in an outgoing & professional manner at public events. Superior customer service orientation & focus & the ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team environment. Superior written & oral communication skills. Ability to work with varying constituencies including faculty, staff, & students. Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail. Familiarity with Boston College systems including Slate, UIS, FolderWave, & AEM is preferred. Ability to maintain data security and confidentiality of all data at all times. Ability to hire, delegate, oversee, follow-up and supervise student employees (valuing diversity). Ability to create and maintain systems for efficient office management.
