Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving Direct Marketing, the Assistant/Associate Director is responsible for the coordination and execution of Boston College’s Annual Giving direct marketing communications. With the goal of increasing both discretionary dollars raised and overall alumni giving participation, they assist with the development of effective solicitation and stewardship strategies that utilize direct mail, email, email, social, and other emerging technologies for fundraising in collaboration with Advancement Information Services and Communications and Marketing.

The Assistant/Associate Director is a vital contributor to the successful implementation of multichannel appeals, including day-to-day project management, end-to-end production management of campaigns, and reporting fundraising results. They will work closely with annual giving colleagues to produce content briefs for appeals to support an annual fundraising calendar and will be responsible for production timelines. They will work with partners in Advancement Communications and Advancement Services to establish best practices for annual giving fundraising and data personalization. Other responsibilities include online giving page production and online campaign page creation and maintenance.

Together with the Director of Annual Giving Direct Marketing, the Assistant/Associate Director will be expected to help develop specific strategies to support multichannel fundraising campaigns with measurable results including ongoing email/mail campaigns, automated and ongoing gift anniversary appeals, retargeting journeys, and recurring giving campaigns.

To be successful, the Assistant/Associate Director must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with demonstrated project management skills. A strong attention to detail and experience with data analysis and technical competencies within a sophisticated database and desktop programs is required.

The Assistant/Associate Director provides project coordination and supervision for one work study student.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Assistant Director: $55,850 - $69,800

First Level Associate Director: $61,650 - $77,050

Second Level Associate Director: $68,100 - $85,150

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and for the Assistant Director position, a minimum of one year of directly related direct marketing fundraising experience or related experience, with proven organizational and project management skills. The Associate Director position requires either a minimum of three years directly related direct marketing experience, or a combination of professional fundraising and other directly related experience with proven organizational and project management skills, preferably in an institution of higher education in a campaign environment or in comparable settings.

This position requires excellent spoken, written and interpersonal skills, a keen eye for detail, and superior project management and proof-reading skills. Aptitude for analysis and understanding data and numbers is critical. A demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition is highly desirable. Some evening and weekend work is required to fulfill job responsibilities.
