Reporting to the Vice President for Development, the Associate Vice President for Major Giving oversees those units focused on fundraising from alumni, parents, and other constituents at the major gift bands ($250K-$4.9M).

As Boston College propels forward with Soaring Higher: the Campaign for Boston College, the role of the Associate Vice President for Major Giving remains increasingly pivotal. Philanthropic resources will be the cornerstone of the University’s future, with the primary catalyst for this growth being the increase in donors making substantial gifts at the major giving levels. Our focus is on doubling the number of gifts between $1M and $4.9M, a goal that the Associate Vice President will play a key role in achieving.

The Associate Vice President will lead all facets of major gift fundraising, including staff and program design, implementation, and assessment. The incumbent will supervise five major gift directors across four regions and parent development; additionally, this individual will manage a partial portfolio of major giving prospects, emphasizing individuals capable of making a gift of $1M or more to the University. The Associate Vice President will be responsible for establishing and ensuring success against goals for the unit, including monthly or quarterly metrics to ensure progress against those goals. The incumbent will also be a key decision maker – in partnership with Prospect Development – in assigning prospective donors to fundraiser portfolios.

The Associate Vice President will be a regular collaborator, working closely with colleagues in Advancement Marketing & Communications, Stewardship, and Strategic Engagement. This person will also partner with the Executive Director of Gift Planning to develop strategies that ensure our most highly rated donors are aware of and utilize the various gift planning tools available. Additionally, the Associate Vice President will work in tandem with the Executive Director of Development and other colleagues to create and implement regional strategies that maximize giving at all levels of the gift pyramid.

As a member of the Advancement Office’s senior leadership group, the Associate Vice President will ensure that the units under their purview work strategically, collaboratively, and effectively.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $206,500 to $258,100; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Frequent travel, evening, and weekend work are required to successfully perform the duties of this position.

Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education and have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College.
