Job Description
We are looking for a motivated Benefits Specialist to join our team and support the University in benefits administration. This role is Monday-Friday and fully on site in our Brighton office.
Primary responsibilities include:
providing benefits information to employees including explaining retirement plan features;
assisting with the administration of medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, Flexible Spending Accounts, and tuition remission.
assisting in monitoring the PeopleSoft Benefits Administration function as it relates to day-to-day Benefits activities and helping to resolve data inconsistencies.
conducting benefits orientation meetings for new employees and faculty.
Working with the Benefits Assistant Directors, the Benefits Specialist will assist with the management of the Retiree Medical Savings Account (RMSA), Financial Planning Subsidy payments, and Retirement Equivalency credits. Will respond to daily email, phone and in-person inquiries; set up Zoom meetings; and train and oversee BC student employees who assist with various office activities.
The Benefits Specialist will work with the Provost Office to verify new eligibility and continued eligibility for part-time faculty members for health plans, as well as monitor and track missed benefit deductions.
Responsibilities may also include: processing and monitoring FMLA and PFML applications and activity; reviewing reports and preparing and submitting premium payments for certain benefits plans; updating employee records for membership and contribution purposes; monitoring employee activity changes, including leaves and terminations, and taking appropriate action concerning benefits options.
This is a develomental job, and the level, title and salary are based on the candidate's relevant experience:
Senior Benefits Specialist - 5+ years of experience: $53,650 - $67,050
Benefits Specialist - 3+ years of experience $48,700 -$60,850
Benefits Assistant - 1-3 years of experience $42,700 - 53,400
Requirements
Must be detail-oriented and have a strong service orientation and excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. Benefits-related work experience desired.
PeopleSoft experience a plus, particularly PeopleSoft Benefits Administration. Working knowledge of MS Office is a plus.
