Job Description

Electrician 1st Shift, Tuesday-Saturday, 7:30am-4pm

Rate of Pay: 43.47/hour

Essential Personnel

Under the direct supervision of the Shop Supervisor or other designated personnel, perform all duties peculiar to and normally required of an Electrician, following recognized techniques and procedures. Duties include repairs and maintenance of electrical components, lighting circuit breakers, etc.

Perform maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance using a computerized maintenance work order system. Provide written(electronic) records of work completed on a daily basis. Communicate with Supervisors personally or through electronic forms of communication. (email, phone use etc.). This description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Requirements

Requires minimum of three to five years, recent full time experience working for an electrical contractor, or maintenance organization

Current Valid Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician's license

Proficient knowledge of all electrical systems

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical subsystems and components

Ability to work from blueprints or verbal instructions

Skilled in the use of equipment and tools normally used in the trade

Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license

Demonstrated ability to work independently

Supervise work performed by external vendors/contractors

Acts as a liaison to University staff, external personnel vendors and contractors engaged in activities related to building.

Performs related duties such as requisitioning supplies and equipment

Maintains paper and electronic records

Maintains inventory levels.

Demonstrates working knowledge of electronic work order systems and PM systems

Other duties as assigned

Must be able to communicate orally, read, comprehend, write, reason and analyze and perform calculations

Must be able to bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, walk, climb, push/pull, kneel, handle objects (manual dexterity), reach above shoulder level, and use fine finger movements

Must be able to lift over 50 pounds

The employee will be subject to the following Environmental Conditions on the job:

Exposure to excessive noise

Will be around moving machinery

Exposure to marked changes in temperature and/or humidity

Exposure to dust, fumes, gasses

Will drive motorized equipment

Will work in confined quarters with the proper PPE

Preferred:

High School graduate, vocational school graduate, or GED is preferred

Experience in a lab or life science setting is preferred
