City of Chicopee Compliance Officer in Chicopee, Massachusetts

Compliance Officer Department: City Clerk Summary: This position responds to all complaints regarding unlicensed dogs that are received by the City Clerk\'s Office. In addition, the position is responsible for all notifications to residents who fail to properly license their dog(s). This includes but is not limited to, mailed and hand-delivered notifications for non-compliance. The position also tracks payments of all nuisance tickets issued by various city departments, including the Chicopee Police Department and the Chicopee Fire Department, and interacts with Chicopee District Court regarding the same. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Respond to and handle all dog licensing complaints Mail and or hand-deliver notifications/citations Responsible for follow-up and receipt of payment on all nuisance tickets Maintains records of all dog licenses and nuisance tickets May act as the Municipal Hearing Officer, to hear appeals of citations written by Local Code Enforcement Officials and Fire Officials. Tracks and ensures business certificates are accurate and kept current. Chief of Security for municipal, state, and federal elections. Other duties as assigned by the City Clerk. Supervisor Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibility. Ability to use Microsoft Office Ability to use the City of Chicopee\'s Dog License Computer Program; Nuisance Ticket Program and Code Book Program. Ability to deal with the general public. Working knowledge of MGL Chapter 40 Section 21 (D) Non-criminal disposition of City Ordinances. Working knowledge MGL Chapter 140 Section 137 Registration and Licenses. Working knowledge of the City of Chicopee Codes Chapters 109, 144, 160, 169, 172, 188, 200, 206, 223, 243, 256, 262 and 269. Minimum of 3-5 years working within the Court system. Minimum six months experience with all aspects of Licensing Programs and Nuisance tickets. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 3-6 months related experience and/or training. Individuals must have a minimum of 3-5 years of prior experience working within the Courts. Applicant must have experience in the issuance of citations and/or subpoenas. Language Skills: Ability to issue and understand citations. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to effectively and informatively present information to the general public, other employees, and one-on-one as needed. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense and understanding in carrying out detailed and involved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
