DYS Direct Care II Staff - Alternative Options - Various Shifts We're looking for a Residential Counselor II /Direct Care Worker for our DYS Program. The Direct Care II is an Evolution of the basic, Direct Care I position. Direct Care II staff is expected to continue to fulfill all expectations of a DC1. In addition to those expectations, the Direct Care II will take more of a leadership role. To maintain a therapeutic environment within the residence, which includes meeting the needs of the client in the following areas: safety, medical, emotional, food, clothing, and shelter. To participate in the development of reasonable limits and structure for each child and to implement these limits on a daily basis in the residence and community in a fair and consistent manner. Client Services Responsibilities To assure that applicable rules, policies and procedures are being followed on their shifts. To adhere to all the expectations of a Direct Care To assist the Supervisor in leading a shift. To implement each client?s individual Level Plan objectives under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and Program Supervisor. To accurately log all required documentation. To be responsible for acting as a (Staff Advocate) for one client. To provide appropriate, safe responses to emergency situations when necessary. To develop strong, supportive relationships with the clients. To provide for client care and safety, and observe all safety measures. To recognize that ethnic and cultural diversity of each individual must be valued and respected. To provide crisis intervention. To notify Program Manager immediately in the event of a client crisis, suspected illegal activity or any behavior constituting an incident in the program. To plan and organize a variety of appropriate recreational and social activities. To perform routine housekeeping tasks as needed. To assist clients with activities of daily living, including but not limited to food shopping & preparation, housekeeping, banking, appointments, etc. Administrative Responsibilities/Record Keeping Knows and understands all pertinent aspects of Agency policies and procedures. Manages petty cash allocations as delegated by Supervisor or Director. Knows and understands EEC licensing requirements as they apply to their shifts. Knows and understands DYS policy and procedures. Attends and participates in all required staff meetings and training sessions. Assumes on-call responsibilities within the Program on a rotating basis. Required Skills Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Good communication skills both verbal and in writing. Ability to deal with conflict in an appropriate manner. Ability to master First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving, Fire Safety and administering Medication. Ability to maintain proper attendance. Displays sound judgement. Works well as a team member. Seeks and uses management staff for training and supervision. Attends Agency and Department required meetings and trainings. Displays excellent supervisory and delegation skills. Ability to deal with diverse population at carried levels of management. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Has completed or willingness to attend DYS training academy in Grafton, MA. Physical demands are located at the end of this job description. ** Required Experience Demonstrated positive experience/ability as a Direct Care I. Associates degree or bachelor?s degree in human service field preferred. At least one year of experience working in a related field dealing with youths preferred. Demonstrates willingness to take on a leadership role. Prior supervisory role. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Must have valid driver?s license. Must meet Agency requirements for driving history records. Must have availability of an automobile to transport clients or perform other supportive services as necessary.
