The Food Bank of Western Mass Food Processing Coordinator in Chicopee, Massachusetts

CHICOPEE - SEE WEBSITE FOR FULL JOB DESCRIPTION - Food Processing Coordinator Would you be excited to work with the Food Bank\'s fantastic volunteers? Do you have experience using a forklift and a ride-on pallet jack? Do you have warehouse experience? Are you interested in a M-F, 8-4 schedule? If you answered yes to these questions, you might be a good candidate to be one of the Food Bank\'s Food Processing Coordinators! The Food Processing Coordinators lead our volunteers in sorting donated and salvage product which goes out to our member agencies. JOB QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS Education & Training - HS Diploma or equivalent 1+ years of related work experience including 6 months of warehouse experience 6 months of experience on ride-on pallet jack and forklift Proficiency in computer data entry in the Windows environment Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment Punctual and reliable attendance Strong communication skills - comfortable communicating with others in person and on the phone Strong math skills JOB PREFERENCES Spanish proficiency 1+ year of ride-on pallet jack and forklift experience 2+ years of warehouse experience Experience working in food warehouse facility Familiarity with food safety and food storage Experience training or teaching Experience with volunteers ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Utilize Primarius to monitor inventory and help establish sorting priorities, sorting schedule, and other product needs for direct service programs, online ordering, and onsite shopping area. Responsible for dropping unsorted products to sort and put away sorted products into assigned storage locations. Plan, schedule and assign volunteers to functioning teams to work on diverse, multiple, and simultaneous sorting lines. Responsible for monitoring and reporting sorting room supply levels. Ensure appropriate logistics, movement, segregation, and storage of reclamation products. Track and maintain appropriate information and division records including product labeling, quality control, and product recall notices. Utilize Primarius to enter food processing data (i.e. transforming product). Ensure food processing shift paperwork is completed and processed, with a focus on accuracy. Develop and update food processing procedures and protocols as needed in collaboration with the Manager of Food Operations. Coordinate with appropriate organizations to create sustainable flow of waste and other unusable products, such as pig farmers, other agricultural farmers, animal shelters, zoos.
